Varieties of Polyethylene
The characteristics of polyethylene can vary significantly depending on its molecular structure and density. By employing different production methods, manufacturers can create PE products with varying densities, ranging from 0.91 to 0.96 g/cm³. This versatility allows for the production of a wide array of PE products, each suited to specific applications.
Processing Methods
Polyethylene can be processed using general thermoplastic molding methods, making it a convenient material for a broad spectrum of industrial and consumer applications.
Types of PE Bags Based on Production Processes
Polyethylene (PE) bags are categorized based on their production processes, each tailored for specific uses. Here are the primary types of PE bags and their manufacturing details:
PE Flat Pockets
PE flat pockets have the simplest manufacturing process. They are produced by blowing PE material into a film, which is then cut into individual bags and sealed at the bottom.
Ziplock Bags
These bags are machine-blown with an integrated sealing strip, allowing for manual closure. Often confused with clip chain bags, ziplock bags differ in that they do not have additional clip chains and typically feature fewer printed colors.
Clip Chain Bags
Made from PE film, clip chain bags incorporate two separate clip chains. These bags generally have wide indentations on both sides and can be printed with intricate patterns. Unlike ziplock bags, clip chain bags have a more complex structure.
Envelope Bags
Envelope bags feature a tongue-like flap similar to traditional envelopes. A plastic strip on the flap allows the bag to be sealed by folding over. Commonly used for clothing and courier services, envelope bags provide a secure and neat closure.
Punching Bags
These bags have a hole punched at the top for easy carrying. The hole simplifies lifting the bag and adds convenience for the user.
Hand-Pull Handbags
These bags have an additional plastic film at the top, forming handles for easy carrying. This labor-intensive process increases the cost, but the resulting bags are sturdy and convenient.
Zipper Bags
Zipper bags are equipped with a zipper strip and cap at the closure, providing a secure and reusable seal.
PE Films
PE films are the raw material for various bag types, produced by blowing PE into a film but not yet cut or sealed into bags. They are available as stretch films and shrink films, serving different packaging needs.
