Viewing Distance Rule
For every 1 meter of viewing distance, allow approximately 10–15 mm of text height for readability. A poster viewed from 5 meters needs letters at least 50–75 mm tall. Graphics should be equally bold.
Resolution Matters
At 300 DPI, an A1 poster (594 × 840 mm) requires a digital file of approximately 7016 × 9921 pixels. Lower DPI (150) may be acceptable for large posters viewed from a distance, but text sharpness will suffer.
Shipping Large Posters
A1 and A0 posters are shipped rolled in sturdy tubes to prevent creases. A3 and A2 can be shipped flat (in rigid envelopes) or rolled. Rolled posters may need flattening before display.

What Determines Poster Printing Cost
1. Size
Size is the biggest cost driver: A3 uses 1 sheet, A2 uses 4x the area, A1 uses 8x, A0 uses 16x. Moving up one size roughly doubles material cost. Custom sizes within a standard sheet are cost-efficient; non-standard sizes may waste paper.
2. Quantity
1–10 posters: $5–20+ each (digital). 100 posters: $2–8 each. 1,000 posters: $1–4 each. 10,000+: offset printing drops per-unit cost below $0.50 for A3, $1–3 for A1. Digital is best for small runs; offset above 500 pieces.
3. Paper Weight
150 gsm is the most economical poster paper. 200 gsm adds ~10–15%. 250–300 gsm adds 20–30%. Photo paper and synthetic substrates add 50–100% over gloss art paper. Canvas fine art paper is the most expensive option.
4. Finishing
Lamination adds ~15–25% per poster (more for larger sizes). Spot UV: flat setup fee (~$30–50) + small per-unit. Grommet holes: $0.50–2.00 per hole. Foam board mounting: $5–20 per sheet depending on thickness. Magnetic backing: $10–30 per sheet.
5. Print Method
Digital large-format printing is cost-effective for small runs but per-unit cost stays flat per sheet. Offset printing has setup costs (plates: $100–300) but per-unit cost drops significantly above 500–1,000 pieces. For A0 posters, digital is often the only practical option.

A3 vs A2 vs A1: which size should I choose?
A3 is best for counter displays, notice boards, and small indoor spaces: economical, easy to handle, good for close-up reading. A2 is the most popular for retail windows, corridor displays, and trade shows: visible from 2–5 meters. A1 is the standard for movie posters, concert posters, and large indoor displays: maximum impact in dedicated display areas.
Do posters need lamination?
Lamination is recommended for posters that will be displayed for more than a few days, handled frequently, or placed in areas with direct light or moisture. Gloss lamination enhances colors and adds shine. Matte lamination reduces glare and feels more professional. For short-term indoor use (under 1 week), lamination is optional. For outdoor use, lamination is essential.
What file format and resolution do I need for a poster?
Print-ready PDF/X-4 with 3–5 mm bleed on all sides, CMYK color mode, and all fonts embedded. Minimum 300 DPI at final print size: for A1 (594 × 840 mm), that's ~7016 × 9921 pixels. For large-fromat posters viewed from distance (A0, billboard), 150 DPI may be acceptable. All images should be high-resolution; upscaling low-res images will result in pixelation.

Yes, double-sided poster printing is available for A3 and A2 sizes. For A1 and larger, double-sided printing may require specialized equipment depending on paper weight. Double-sided posters are ideal for hanging displays (windows, hanging frames) where both sides are visible. Note that heavy ink coverage on one side may show through on lightweight paper.
Can you print waterproof posters for outdoor use?
Yes. For outdoor posters, we recommend waterproof synthetic paper (PP/PE) or vinyl banner material with UV-resistant inks and gloss lamination. These materials resist rain, humidity, UV fading, and temperature changes for 6–12 months outdoors. Standard gloss art paper is suitable for indoor use only and will deteriorate quickly outdoors.
What is the minimum order for poster printing?
Digital large-format poster printing: minimum 1 poster: no setup cost, ideal for single prints, small events, or test runs. Offset poster printing: minimum 500 pieces. Do you offer poster mounting and framing?
Yes. We offer poster mounting on foam board (3–10 mm thickness), PVC board, or corrugated plastic. Mounted posters are ready for display without additional framing. Can I print a poster from a low-resolution image?
Low-resolution images (72 DPI, small pixel dimensions) will appear pixelated and blurry when printed at poster size. As a rule of thumb: a 1920 × 1080 pixel image (full HD) is suitable for up to A4 at 300 DPI. For A1, you need approximately 7000 × 9900 pixels.
